Lactoferrin, 200mg - 30 caps

Food supplement in the form of a hard capsule containing lactoferrin - a protein from the glycoprotein group that has the ability to bind and transport iron. Lactoferrin Proferrin® is derived from cow's milk. If you want to take care of your immunity and improve iron absorption, consider taking a lactoferrin supplement. Lactoferrin is described as a multifunctional protein found in many body fluids, including milk, saliva and tears. It can help protect against bacteria and viruses and support every cell in the body against oxidative stress. Lactoferrin, which is part of milk proteins (lacto + ferrrin = milk + iron), has antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects. It is an iron-binding glycoprotein (approximately 77 kDa) that helps balance iron levels in the body. Iron deficiency, manifested by excessive fatigue, weakness, dizziness and headaches, palpitations, as well as excessive hair loss and deterioration of the skin and nails, significantly reduces the quality of life. Lactoferrin supplementation in such cases can be useful in supporting iron absorption and iron deficiency. Excessive iron can also be harmful, causing the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and lactoferrin, due to its ability to bind strongly and reversibly to iron ions, helps the body maintain homeostasis of this element. This glycoprotein supports the immune system, which fights chronic inflammatory processes that cause iron deficiency. A study involving female long-distance runners who supplemented with lactoferrin for 8 weeks in combination with iron, observed positive changes in blood parameters and lactate levels compared to participants who received iron alone. This indicates a positive effect of lactoferrin on iron levels and exercise tolerance. In addition, lactoferrin can be successfully used by pregnant women, not only by supporting iron absorption, but also by supporting immune function due to its proven safety. The review noted that under the influence of lactoferrin supplementation, pregnant women show improved iron absorption, favorable changes in blood morphology and less digestive discomfort when taking oral iron. The reduced gastrointestinal side effects when combining oral iron with lactoferrin are most likely due to the excessive lack of free iron in the gastrointestinal tract. This avoids mucosal irritation and impaired intestinal motility. In addition, lactoferrin can support our immune function by increasing immune cell activity and inhibiting pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Observations have shown a positive effect of lactoferrin supplementation or consumption of fermented milk enriched with lactoferrin on the skin, reducing acne vulgaris by 20.3% compared to placebo and improving its condition in general. Our supplement contains up to 200 mg of Proferrin® lactoferrin, the purest brand of lactoferrin on the market (>95%), per capsule.
